Jammu,(DD): National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that the direct train to Kashmir will boost tourism in Jammu & Kashmir and is a step toward reducing ‘Dil ki Doori’.

Talking to reporters after traveling in Vande Bharat train, Farooq Abdullah said the Vande Bharat train is fulfilling the dream of connecting Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.

“This train will connect Kashmir with the rest of the country. The train can run even during inclement weather conditions while all other routes remain closed for the traffic,” he said.

He also thanked those who worked on this project. The NC patron also expressed gratitude to the former prime ministers including Dr Manmohan Singh and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

He said that the Vande Bharat train will give a boost to the tourism sector here as the people from different parts of the country can now directly visit Kashmir through the train.

In reply to a query, he said the Vande Bharat train is a step toward reducing ‘Dil ki Duri’, but a lot more has to be done to reduce the ‘doori’.(DD)
