BJP fails to divert public opinion towards divisive agenda, says S. Manjit Singh

Says people not ready to forget suffering of 10 years in J&K

VIJAYPUR: TDD, Apni Party’s contesting candidate for Vijaypur assembly constituency, and Former Minister S. Manjit Singh has said the BJP has failed to divert attention of the people from local issues to divisive agenda.

“The BJP has tried its best in the ongoing election campaign in Vijaypur to create certain kind of division of votes on a set agenda that is against the secular fabric of the country, especially Vijaypur and Samba,” said S. Manjit Singh, addressing a largely attended public meeting.

The Former Minister said that the people are not ready to forget the suffering of ten years; they faced in Jammu and Kashmir in the absence of an elected Govt, at the hands handful of bureaucracy.

“The bureaucracy worked as East India Company and took decisions against the public interest unilaterally. The houses were dismantled, people were disposed from the property and land belong to the poor families was taken away making large numbers of people homeless. It was the period of inhuman approach that was adopted by the babus in J&K, especially in Samba, Kathua and Jammu,” he said, cautioning the people from again falling into the trap of BJP that would leave them helpless for next five years without jobs and development.

He said that the BJP gave the slogan of development, employment, and prosperity. However, the party helped the divisive agenda to spread its root that increased disharmony among the communities.

“The Apni Party has commitment with the people that it would fight with the communal agenda of dividing society on regional or religious lines, and work for the unity in the society for the peace, development and progress of the country, especially Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

He recalled how the Jammu business, trade in Samba and Kathua has been affected adversely due to the increasing influence of the non-locals contractors, traders, hoteliers, transporters, contractors, miners from Punjab, Himachal, Uttar Pradesh and other states.

“Our youth have become unemployed in last 10 years, and many families have been apparently facing starvation like situation. Hence, the time has come that the people should chose a right person as their representative from Vijaypur assembly constituency by casting their vote in favour of S. Manjit Singh, contesting from the said constituency,” he added.

He remained to the people how he did development in Vijaypur’s neglected areas and did not discrimination with any one on the name of region, religion, caste, and creed.

He appealed to the people to stand in unity and vote him to the legislative assembly so that he could become representative and address their long pending issues of development, employment, and protection of resources from the outsiders.TDD
