KISHTWAR, DD, BJP District President of the OBC Wing in Kishtwar, MuDasir AhanGer, has strongly advocated for a total prohibition on alcohol in Jammu & Kashmir. Speaking out on the issue, AhanGer described alcohol addiction as a curse that not only destroys the present but also the future of families, noting that its deep-rooted impact has led to a surge in drug abuse and unemployment among the youth.
AhanGer urged the public of Kishtwar to support the liquor ban, calling for a unified stance on the matter. “The slogan for banning liquor should resonate from every Mosque, Temple, and Gurudwara,” he stated, emphasizing the need for a collective effort across communities.
Targeting the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, AhanGer criticized the NC manifesto, accusing it of betraying the public’s hopes by failing to address the issues of drug menace and alcohol abuse. “If Gujarat and Bihar can be dry states, why not J&K? We want a complete blanket ban on alcohol in Jammu & Kashmir,” he declared.
The call for prohibition has stirred debate, with AhanGer positioning the issue as critical to the social and economic well-being of the region. As the discussion intensifies, the authorities face increasing pressure to take concrete steps in tackling the challenges posed by alcohol and drug addiction in the state.DD
