Jammu: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Tariq Hameed Karra has raised serious questions over the closure of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical Institute of Excellence (SMVDIME) by pointing out several shortcomings by the MCC, following a controversy over the admissions of majority candidates from the majority community.
In a statement, Karra said that it is a cover up to the failure of BJP Chief JP Nadda, presently heading the Union Health Ministry apart from Management of the SMVDS Board and asked BJP’ to explain the benefits of the closure of the future premier Medical institute in the region, to the youth of Jammu.
Reacting to the situation, he termed it very unfortunate that a premier Medical Institute in the region named after Holy Mata Mata Vaishno Devi ji, which could have come up one of a fine institutions in the field, given the financial backing but has been closed down for political reasons to cover up the initial fault and failures of the authorities of Board and Health Ministry, not to grant minority status to the institute
Instead of rectifying their mistake, the institute has been closed down at the cost of overall interests of people especially of Jammu province,only to claim moral victory by BJP, for vote bank politics.
After spending crores of rupees ,a medical institution in Jammu region has been got closed by BJP and now telling people to celebrate, for. What, he asked and appealed people to question BJP for this unwise decision against the interest of people of region.
Karra questioned what did MCC inspect while granting permission and why such shortcomings were not noticed then.
This decision is unfortunate and against the overall interests of people of the region and demanded its immediate review, after taking due care of the aspirations, sentiments and rights of the people and youth as per norms.DD
