BJYM Warns Omar Abdullah Over Urdu in Naib Tehsildar Recruitment

Calls move discriminatory; threatens Civil Secretariat siege if policy not revoked

Calls move discriminatory; threatens Civil Secretariat siege if policy not revoked

Jammu, (DD)Arun Prabhat, State President of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), led a massive protest march from Kachi Chawni to the JKSSB headquarters in Jammu on Saturday, demanding the immediate rollback of the government’s decision to mandate Urdu in the recruitment process for Naib Tehsildars.

Addressing the gathering, Prabhat accused the Omar Abdullah-led government of deliberately excluding a large section of aspirants from the Jammu region through what he termed a “discriminatory and unconstitutional” policy. “For over a month now, the youth have been protesting on the streets, yet the government remains silent. This arrogance reflects a policy of intentional regional exclusion,” he said.

He warned that if the government fails to revoke the decision, the BJYM will escalate its agitation. “The next gherao will be of the Civil Secretariat and the Chief Minister’s residence,” he declared.

Prabhat argued that making Urdu a compulsory qualification for the Naib Tehsildar exam violates the fundamental right to equal opportunity in public employment. “How can the government justify barring nearly 70% of the eligible population from applying? This move appears to be a well-planned attempt to keep the Jammu region in the dark,” he added.

He urged all non-Urdu speaking aspirants to apply regardless of the language requirement and assured them that the BJP would stand firmly behind them. “We will fight for your rights at all costs, until justice is delivered,” he said in his concluding remarks(DD)
