Kishtwar, (TDD) Security forces today retrieved the two bodies of Village Defence Group (VDG) members, who were “tortured” and killed by the terrorists in Kishtwar District’s remote area.

The killing has sparked a wide-spread anger among the people, who observed a shutdown in Kishtwar and held peaceful protest demonstrations against the killing of the innocent people.

Seeking stern action from the security forces, the members of Sanatan Dharm Sabha, and other people, from all the communities, held protests across Kishtwar whereas the shops remained shut in solidarity with the victim families.

Meanwhile, the mutilated bodies of the VDGs were recovered by the security forces and they were shifted for legal formalities amid anguish against the killing across Jammu and Kashmir.
To monitor the situation, the Indian Army’s commanders, and J&K Police’s top-ranking officials visited the site and held meetings to put an end to the terrorism.
“A group of terrorists is active in the hilly and tough terrain of Kishtwar and the security forces are expected to launch a fresh coordinated and well planned anti-terror operation against them,” the official sources said.
However, the situation remained peaceful and the people from both the majority communities have strongly condemned the killings of the two VDGs.(TDD)
