Srinagar,(DD) The body of a 24-year-old youth who went missing after a boat capsized in Dal Lake near Duck Park on Friday was recovered by rescue teams early morning today.

According to officials, the deceased has been identified as Taufeeq Ahmad Chopan, a resident of Chopan Mohalla in Rainawari. His body was found after search operations resumed at dawn, following an overnight suspension due to poor visibility.

The tragic incident occurred Friday afternoon when a fishing boat carrying two men overturned during strong winds, plunging both into the lake. While one of them, Abdul Majeed Khosa, was rescued shortly after the mishap, Chopan could not be located despite several hours of intensive searching.

Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), supported by local authorities, carried out the recovery operation in the early hours of Saturday. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the Rainawari area, where both individuals were well known(DD)
