Bravehearts Remembered: Jammu Police Pays Tribute to Martyrs”

Jammu:TDD, The Jammu Province came together to observe National Police Day, also known as Police Commemoration Day, with a series of poignant ceremonies across all ten districts.
This annual observance pays homage to the ten brave Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice on October 21, 1959, during an ambush by Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh, at a staggering altitude of 4,681 meters.

The main event in Jammu, the winter capital, was held at Gulshan Ground, where Anand Jain, IPS, ADGP Jammu Zone, presided over the Commemoration Day Parade. The ceremony saw widespread participation from senior police officers, retired personnel, families of martyrs, and civic leaders. In a solemn moment, ADGP Jain read aloud the names of fallen heroes from various police and paramilitary organizations, including the BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, NCB, NDRF, and Fire Services, Civil Defense, and Home Guards.

The day’s events included a touching tribute at the Police Martyrs Memorial at the Railway Station, where officers laid floral wreaths in honor of the fallen. In a gesture of service and remembrance, a blood donation camp at the Police Hospital Jammu collected 80 units of blood from officers and volunteers. The commemoration concluded with an evening ceremony at the Police Martyrs Memorial, where families and community members lit candles in a moving display of solidarity and respect.

ADGP Jain’s address highlighted the unwavering dedication of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who serve under often hostile and challenging conditions. He assured support to the families of martyrs and personally interacted with them to address their concerns. The presence of prominent figures such as MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and former Deputy CM Kavinder Gupta underscored the event’s significance to the community.

This year’s National Police Commemoration Day not only honored the sacrifices of law enforcement personnel but also reinforced the bond between the police force and the citizens they protect, showcasing a united front in the face of adversity and a shared commitment to the nation’s security and integrity.TDD
