BSF Constable Returned Safely by Pakistan Rangers After 21 Days in Custody

Diplomat Correspondent

Ferozepur,(DD): In a significant development, Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday morning repatriated Border Security Force (BSF) constable Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been in their custody since April 23.

Shaw, a native of Rishra in West Bengal’s Hooghly district, was handed over to Indian officials at the Attari-Wagah border around 10:30 a.m. His return was made possible through consistent diplomatic and military-level coordination between both countries.

He had reportedly crossed the India-Pakistan International Border in Punjab’s Ferozepur district under unclear circumstances, just a day after the terror attack in Pahalgam.

The BSF welcomed Shaw’s safe return and acknowledged the efforts of all agencies involved in facilitating the handover. He will undergo a detailed debriefing to determine the events that led to his detention before resuming his duties.(DD)
