Crucial Meet to Focus on Flood damages, PSA Detention of MLA Mehraj Malik, statehood among key issues

Srinagar: DD, The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet will meet in Srinagar on Tuesday morning to finalize the date and sittings of the upcoming Assembly session, sources said.
Official sources said that the session has to be convened before the October 28 deadline, with indications it may be brief, spanning 5–7 sittings.
The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat, will also discuss several proposals from different departments. The Assembly session is expected to be scheduled after the festival period, likely between October 20 and 23, they said.
Issues likely to dominate include flood damages in Jammu region, detention of AAP MLA Mehraj Malik under PSA, restoration of statehood to J&K, and debate over job reservations. Opposition parties are also preparing to raise demands for relief and accountability, sources said.
Besides fixing the Assembly calendar, the Cabinet may also deliberate on house rent allowance and review ongoing flood relief and restoration works, they said. (KNC)
