Srinagar, (DD): National Conference (NC) has raised concerns over the recent Kathua and Baramulla incidents with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, emphasising that such events risk alienating the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, NC spokesperson and MLA Zadibal, Tanvir Sadiq, stated that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah discussed multiple pressing issues, including the incidents in Kathua and Baramulla, as well as the long-standing demand for statehood restoration, during his meeting with the Home Minister.

“We cannot intervene directly in these incidents since law and order is not within our jurisdiction, but we have taken up the matter at the highest level,” Sadiq said. He reaffirmed NC’s stance that no innocent lives should be lost and called for public cooperation to improve the security situation.

According to Sadiq, the discussions with Amit Shah took place in a cordial atmosphere, with the Chief Minister stressing that restoring J&K’s statehood at the earliest would help address such concerns more effectively.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with political parties closely monitoring developments.(DD)
