Casual employees of Wildlife Dept protest outside CM residence over delayed wages

Dr. Farooq Abdullah pacifies protesters, assures them redressal

Srinagar,(DD)A group of casual employees from the Wildlife Department staged a protest outside the Chief Minister’s residence today, demanding justice over the non-disbursement of their wages.

Around 40-45 employees gathered, raising concerns over repeated delays in salary payments, which have left them struggling financially.

The protestors, holding placards and chanting slogans, urged the government to ensure the timely release of their dues. They expressed frustration over their uncertain job status and the lack of regular wages despite years of service.

“We have families to support, and it has become extremely difficult to manage our daily expenses without timely wages. We are not asking for anything extra, just what we rightfully earn,” said one of the protestors.

Responding to the demonstration, former Chief Minister and senior National Conference leader Dr. Farooq Abdullah met with the protesting employees and assured them that their grievances would be addressed. He acknowledged their concerns and promised to take up the matter with the administration to ensure timely payment of wages.

“The government must ensure that hardworking employees receive their dues on time. I will personally speak to the concerned authorities to resolve this issue at the earliest,” Dr. Abdullah told the protestors.

Following his assurance, the employees expressed hope for a quick resolution. However, they warned that if their demands were not met soon, they would intensify their protests in the coming days.

This demonstration underscores the ongoing challenges faced by contractual and casual workers in government departments, who continue to demand job security and regular salaries(DD)
