CBI Raids Commissioner Secretary’s Office in Srinagar Civil Secretariat Over Corruption Allegations

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday conducted a raid at the office of Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Commissioner Secretary of Labour and Employment Development, at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar. The operation is part of an ongoing probe into a corruption case registered under FIR No. RC0512025S0003.

Sources said the case involves allegations under Section 5(2) read with 5(1)(e) of the Jammu & Kashmir Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, along with Section 109 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). The CBI suspects financial irregularities and disproportionate assets linked to the senior official.

In a related development, CBI teams also searched the office of another senior government officer in connection with an alleged fake gun license scam. The Centre has already granted prosecution sanction against an IAS officer implicated in the case.

The raids are part of the CBI’s intensified crackdown on corruption within government departments in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials have remained tight-lipped about the findings, but sources indicate that crucial documents and electronic evidence have been seized for further investigation.

Further developments in the case are awaited.(DD)
