Leh, DD: Ladakh’s talented skaters have made a remarkable impact at the Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) 2025, held in Jammu and Kashmir. Skarma Tsultim secured the gold medal in the 1000-meter short track event, while Padma Angmo brought home the silver in the same race. This accomplishment marks a historic milestone for Ladakh, as the region now holds both the gold and silver medals in the 1000-meter race, across both long and short track events.

The success comes on the heels of impressive performances from other Ladakhi athletes at the games. Shabana Zara clinched the gold medal in the 1000-meter long track event, while Tasnia Shammo earned silver in the same race. With these achievements, Ladakh’s total medal count at the KIWGs 2025 has risen to four, with two golds and two silvers.

National Coach Mohd Abbass Nordakh, who is currently leading a training camp in South Korea for Team India ahead of the Asian Winter Games 2025 in Harbin, China, congratulated the athletes. His guidance has been instrumental in the preparation of these athletes, who continue to excel on the national stage.

Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson congratulated the team and the coach Mohd Abbass Nordakh, stating, “Skarma Tsultim, Padma Angmo, and all our athletes have done an outstanding job. Their hard work, along with the support of their coaches, has earned us this great recognition and we look forward to even more success as they continue to compete in upcoming events.”
