CEC Kargil Meets Senior Health Officials in New Delhi

New Delhi: DD, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, today held an important meeting with Dr. Vinod Kotwal (IAS), Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and Aradhna Patnaik, Additional Secretary, National Health Mission (NHM), in New Delhi.

During the meeting, the CEC highlighted several critical healthcare challenges faced by the people of Kargil and presented key demands aimed at strengthening the district’s health infrastructure, manpower, and service delivery.
He reiterated LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to ensuring accessible, equitable, and quality healthcare for all residents.

Major issues presented by the CEC included the creation of new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) / Sub-Centres to serve remote and underserved areas and ensure accessible primary healthcare.
The upgradation of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) to NPTC (Nursing and Paramedical Training Centre) to enhance technical and paramedical training capacity.
The upgradation of some Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to Community Health Centres (CHCs) to strengthen secondary-level healthcare services.
The upgradation of the AMT School to a Nursing College to expand professional medical education opportunities within Kargil district.


The upgradation of District Hospital Kargil with enhanced infrastructure, modern equipment, and advanced diagnostic services.
The establishment of a Mini-AIIMS to provide specialised and advanced healthcare services in Kargil. The sanctioning of additional ASHA worker posts to reinforce community-level healthcare.

The Additional Secretaries attentively heard all the concerns raised by the CEC and expressed keen interest in addressing them.
They assured that the issues would be taken up on priority within the Ministry and NHM frameworks.

The CEC conveyed his gratitude for their positive and proactive response, reaffirming LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare system across the district.DD
