Arun Jasrotia
Udhampur :TDD, In a remarkable display of community service, the 137th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inaugurated a significant medical camp today, November 21, 2024, at the Government Middle School in Dharmthal. Under the Supervision of Manoj Kumar Sikon, Commandant of the 137 Battalion, the Civic Action Program aimed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the local population.
The medical camp was attended by a distinguished team of medical professionals and senior CRPF officers, including Kartar Singh (Second Commanding Officer), Shyam Lal (Second Financial Officer), Dr. Manish Rundla (Medical Officer), and other key personnel. Local dignitaries such as Shri Sheikh Tahir, Deputy Superintendent of Police, and former Sarpanch Mankhana Devi from Dharmatal Block-Narsu were also present.
Approximately 250-300 local residents participated in this healthcare initiative. The medical team, comprising Dr. Manish Rundla, Dr. Rohit Sharma, Dr. Nikita Dubey, Pharmacist Virender Singh, and Physiological Nurse Geeta Devi, conducted extensive health screenings. Hundreds of villagers underwent comprehensive medical examinations, including blood sugar tests, ECG, weight measurements, blood pressure checks, and screening for various other health conditions.
A significant aspect of the camp was its focus on women’s health. Dr. Rundla and local physicians provided valuable insights into women’s health, particularly addressing menstrual health and hygiene. They encouraged women to break free from traditional misconceptions, emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition and maintaining both physical and mental well-being during menstruation. As part of this initiative, sanitary pads were distributed to local women.
The medical team also distributed appropriate medications to hundreds of villagers, with special attention given to patients requiring nebulizer treatments. The comprehensive approach of the medical camp not only provided immediate healthcare services but also aimed to create long-term awareness about health and hygiene.
Local citizens enthusiastically praised the CRPF’s medical camp and expressed a collective desire for such health initiatives to be conducted regularly. The 137 Battalion’s proactive approach is expected to significantly improve local health outcomes and bridge healthcare gaps in the community.TDD
