CHISHOTI CLOUDBURST: 31 Persons Still Missing

Kishtwar: Atleast 31 persons reportedly still missing in Chishoti under the debris of the cloudburst that triggered mudslide and huge boulders, following a cloud burst in the horrific incident of Kishtwar.
The SSP Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, addressing a press conference, said that on 14-08-2025, a sudden cloudburst took place which triggered to flash flood in the remote village Chishoti of Padder Atholi, District Kishtwar in which multiple casualties were reported in addition to damages to properties.
Due to the tragic incident, the holy Machail Mata Yatra-2025 had been suspended.
The district administration alongwith Police, Army, CAPF, NDRF, SDRF, local NGOs and other volunteers started rescue operations.
Sharing details of the joint rescue operation, he said that approximately 20, 000 trapped persons were rescued.
“Atleast 116 injured persons were evacuated, and 68 lost lives whereas only 65 bodies were recovered, including excluding 3 unidentified bodies whose DNA samples have been sent to FSL Jammu,” he said, while informing that 31 persons were reportedly still missing in Chishoti, Kishtwar.DD
