CM Omar Abdullah Announces Relief Package for Kishtwar Cloudburst Victims

Rs 2 Lakh for Deceased, Rs 1 Lakh for Injured; Compensation for Property Losses

Kishtwar, (DD) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday announced an ex-gratia relief package for the victims of the devastating cloudburst in Kishtwar after visiting the affected areas and reviewing the situation.

He announced that Rs 2 lakh will be provided from the CM’s Relief Fund for each deceased person, Rs 1 lakh for those severely injured, and2 Rs 50,000 for those with minor injuries.

For property losses, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs 1 lakh for fully damaged structures, Rs 50,000 for severely damaged structures, and Rs 25,000 for partially damaged ones.

Omar Abdullah said the relief aims to provide immediate assistance to the families affected by the tragedy, while rehabilitation and restoration measures will continue under close monitoring.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to extend all possible help to the victims and directed officials to ensure timely disbursal of the announced aid(DD)
