CM Omar Abdullah Reaffirms Commitment to Election Promises, Announces Roadmap for Daily-Wagers’ Issues

Diplomat Correspondent

Jammu,(DD)In a spirited address to the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reiterated his commitment to fulfilling all election promises. He clarified that while his government is dedicated to implementing the pledges outlined in the party’s manifesto, it was never promised that all commitments would be met within a single budget.

Responding to the budget discussion, CM Omar emphasized that the financial plan was designed to uplift the most vulnerable sections of society. He dismissed concerns about inflationary effects raised by People’s Conference chairman and MLA Handwara, Sajad Lone, asserting that the budget prioritizes economic stability.

Addressing the long-pending concerns of daily-wage workers, the Chief Minister criticized previous administrations for their inaction. He revealed that under the PDP-BJP rule, only 570 workers were regularized. To systematically resolve the issue, he announced the formation of a committee led by the Chief Secretary. This panel will assess the total number of daily-wage workers and explore legally and financially viable solutions for their regularization.

Calling the budget a “love letter” to all political parties and the people of J&K, CM Omar said, “I have owned it as a love letter—to BJP, PC, PDP, NC, and Congress. Love letters are written to express love, and I will continue writing them for five years.”

He also acknowledged the role of the Central government in J&K’s development, stating, “If the Honorable Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Finance Minister have helped us, what is wrong in expressing gratitude?”

The address set the tone for the government’s roadmap, reaffirming its focus on economic stability, worker welfare, and cooperative governance.(DD)
