Jammu: DD, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah received a warm welcome at Raghunath Bazaar when he was walking towards the Civil Secretariat on the first day of opening of move offices at Jammu.
Omar Abdullah was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, whereas the jublent traders led by Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu (CCI)president, Arun Gupta gathered in the market area to welcome the Chief Minister.
Amid slogans expressing gratitude, the traders garlanded Omar Abdullah, and distributed sweets while thanking him for restoring the darbar move practice.
The Darbar Move practice boosts economic activities in Jammu District in particular with the inflow of families of the Kashmiri employees, and with the onset of harsh winters in Kashmir Valley.
During their stay in the next six month, most of these families live in rented accomodations, and hotels.
As the move office has been officially opened in Jammu after four years of closing of darbar move practice, the businessmen, transporters, and hoteliers have expressed hope for economic stability that was missing from the last several years.
Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah was given guard of honour by the contingent of J&K Police at the compound of the Civil Secretariat in Jammu.
The employees union also welcomed the Chief Minister with garlands as the move offices opened in Jammu.DD
