CM Omar Vows Smooth, Secure Conduct of Amarnath Yatra, Mela Kheer Bhawani

Diplomat Correspondent

Ganderbal,(DD): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the annual Amarnath Yatra and Mela Kheer Bhawani.

Speaking to reporters during his visit to Ganderbal, the Chief Minister emphasized that both administrative and security arrangements are being strengthened to facilitate the religious events without disruptions.

He acknowledged that tourism in Jammu and Kashmir has been severely impacted, but noted that the situation isn’t yet conducive for a full revival. “Once the Amarnath Yatra concludes, the government will hold discussions with stakeholders to formulate steps for revitalizing the tourism sector,” he said.

Omar also pointed out that tour operators from outside the region are keen to see tourism flourish once again, and that some groups have already started to arrive. “Efforts to boost tourism will gain momentum after the Yatra ends,” he added.

During his visit to his constituency, the Chief Minister inaugurated an old age home at Pandach and laid the foundation stone for a new veterinary hospital. He also inspected preparations at the Kheer Bhawani temple ahead of the upcoming mela.(DD)
