Srinagar, (DD) Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the implementation of the Public Services Guarantee Act (PSGA), reaffirming the Government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance.

The review focused on ensuring the timely, accountable, and transparent delivery of essential services to the public. The Chief Minister emphasized that departments must strictly adhere to the timelines and service standards prescribed under PSGA, warning that lapses would invite strict action under the law.

“Our aim is to make public service delivery seamless, efficient, and responsive,” Omar said, directing officials to adopt a proactive approach and eliminate delays. He also called for greater public awareness about the PSGA framework so citizens can effectively demand their rights.

Top bureaucrats, including administrative secretaries and heads of service delivery departments, attended the meeting. Departments were asked to submit monthly compliance reports and ensure that service timelines are prominently displayed in all public offices.

The CM also reviewed grievance redressal mechanisms and instructed that pending applications beyond stipulat3ed timeframes be tracked and resolved on priority. “There is no room for complacency when it comes to public service delivery,” he noted.

The PSGA, enacted to empower citizens and ensure accountability in governance, mandates a time-bound framework for providing over 100 notified public services across departments(DD)
