College of Nursing, AIIMS Jammu Empowers B.Sc (Hons) Nursing Students Through 70-Lecture Series on Personality & Communication Skills


Shaping Future Healthcare Leaders with Confidence, Compassion and Competence

Jammu, DD, In a major step towards the holistic development of students, the College of Nursing, AIIMS Jammu organized a 70-lecture series focused on Personality Development, Language Proficiency (English and Hindi) and Communication Skills. The series was aimed at equipping nursing students with essential soft skills, recognizing their importance in today’s dynamic healthcare environment.
The sessions were conducted by Shri Rajesh Rathore, Principal of JK Public School Jammu, a seasoned educationist known for his engaging and insightful approach. Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, Shri Rathore encouraged students to unlock their potential, strengthen their confidence and develop effective communication strategies that go beyond academics.

Along with their core studies in subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry and Nursing Foundation, the students were trained in key areas like leadership, empathy, teamwork and emotional intelligence, all crucial for becoming well-rounded healthcare professionals.
The concluding session, held on April 26, 2025, saw enthusiastic participation from students through role-plays, extempore and discussions that reflected their learning journey during the series.
The event was graced by Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu. In his inspiring address, Dr. Gupta emphasized the importance of thinking innovatively and pursuing research activities right from the undergraduate level. He encouraged students to actively participate in community outreach programmes, highlighting that true healthcare goes beyond hospital walls and into the heart of communities. Dr. Gupta also spoke about the need for balancing technical expertise with strong interpersonal and communication skills, stressing that qualities like empathy, leadership and emotional intelligence are as critical as medical knowledge for delivering holistic and compassionate patient care. He motivated the students to stay committed to continuous learning, innovation and service to society, shaping themselves into future leaders of healthcare.
With initiatives like these, AIIMS Jammu continues to shape a generation of healthcare professionals who are academically strong, socially responsible and emotionally intelligent, ready to meet the evolving needs of modern healthcare.DD
