Srinagar, TDD,Amid rising concerns and protests regarding the reservation policy in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reassured the public of his government’s commitment to thoroughly addressing the issue.

In a statement, Omar said that the reservation policy was a significant part of the National Conference in election manifesto and the establishment of a cabinet sub-committee reflects the administration’s dedication to fulfilling its promises. “The sub-committee has been recently notified and is actively engaging with stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and fair approach,” he said.

He also clarified that the reservation policy is currently under review by the Hon’ble High Court of J&K, and the government will fully comply with the court’s final verdict once all legal options have been exhausted.

Addressing the planned protests in Srinagar, the Chief Minister assured the public that their concerns were being taken seriously. “While peaceful protests are a democratic right, it’s important to understand that the government is following due process to ensure a fair and just resolution,” Omar stated.

Earlier, NC MP Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi announced plans to protest outside the Chief Minister’s residence tomorrow along with candidates, demanding action on the reservation policy (TDD)
