Jammu: DD, The Indian National Congress has announced its decision to leave the Nagrota Assembly constituency for its alliance partner, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), as part of a broader coalition strategy aimed at ensuring a united front against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a statement issued by Ravinder Sharma, Chief Spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), the party as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said the decision was taken after detailed deliberations within the leadership and careful review of the report submitted by the JKPCC.

Sharma said that in the last Assembly elections held in 2024 when both Congress and NC contested on a friendly basis the National Conference had secured the second position in the Nagrota constituency.

“Keeping in view the overall coalition parameters, ground realities, and the larger goal of defeating the BJP, the central leadership of the Indian National Congress has decided to leave the Nagrota seat to its ally, the National Conference,” Sharma stated.

He added that the move reflects the coalition’s commitment to maintaining unity among secular and democratic forces in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNC)
