Congress MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone Stages Protest Outside J&K Assembly Against Civilian Killings in Gaza

Jammu, (DD): Congress MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone staged a protest outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly today condemning the killing of civilians in Palestine and urging global solidarity with the victims. His demonstration came ahead of the day’s Assembly session, drawing attention to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

Holding a placard that read “Innocent killings in Palestine are a murder of humanity,” Lone stood outside the Assembly complex, expressing his anguish over the escalating violence in the region. A known human rights activist, Lone has been vocal on various international and humanitarian issues, and his protest today was a continuation of his advocacy for justice and human rights.

Speaking to reporters, Lone described the situation in Gaza as “a massacre of innocent civilians” and called upon the global community, including India, to raise its voice against the ongoing bloodshed. “We cannot remain silent while innocent people, including children and women, are being brutally killed. The world must stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand an immediate end to this violence,” he said.

The Congress legislator further urged the Government of India to take a clear stand and engage in diplomatic efforts to push for a ceasefire and humanitarian assistance in Gaza. “India has always been a supporter of peace and justice. It is time for us to take a strong moral stance and call for an end to the suffering of innocent civilians,” he added.

Lone’s protest outside the Assembly also sparked discussions among political circles, with some members of the ruling alliance and opposition acknowledging the gravity of the situation in Palestine. However, no official response from the Jammu and Kashmir government was issued on the matter.

His demonstration highlights growing concerns about international conflicts resonating within Indian political discourse, as leaders across different regions continue to express their views on global humanitarian issues.(DD)
