Kishtwar,(DD)A shocking case of premeditated murder has come to light in Kishtwar, where a man’s body was found in an abandoned Eeco vehicle earlier this week. The deceased, identified as Pawan Kumar, was discovered on 2nd July with visible injuries, prompting police to treat the case as a homicide.
Speaking to the media, DySP Kishtwar Dr. Ishan said that an inquest was initiated immediately after the body was recovered. Upon confirming foul play, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the Kishtwar Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was swiftly formed to investigate the crime. During the course of the probe, police detained several suspects, including a couple — Ujjwala Devi and her husband Sandeep Kumar. The duo was formally arrested after they confessed to having planned and executed the murder.
According to police, the woman called the victim to her home at night. Once he arrived, the couple jointly assaulted him, leading to his death. They later transported the body in a car and abandoned it in a secluded area in an attempt to cover up the crime.
Police have since recovered the weapon used in the assault, and both accused are currently in custody. Investigations are ongoing to uncover any further involvement or motives behind the murder.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, with authorities assuring that justice will be served promptly.(DD)
