Crackdown After Pahalgam Attack: Homes of Three LeT Militants Demolished in South Kashmir

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar, (DD): In the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, security forces have intensified their crackdown on militant infrastructure in South Kashmir, demolishing the houses of three active Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in Pulwama, Kulgam, and Shopian districts.

According to official sources, the residence of Ehsan Ul Haq Sheikh in Muran, Pulwama was demolished late Friday night. Sheikh is suspected to have provided logistical support to the attackers.

In Matalhama, Kulgam, authorities razed the house of Zakir Ahmad Gania, an LeT operative who has been active since 2023. Gania is believed to have been part of the planning network behind the attack.

Meanwhile, in Chotipora, Shopian, the home of Shahid Ahmad Kutay, one of the region’s oldest surviving militants active since 2002, was also destroyed. Kutay has long been on the radar for his involvement in terror-related activities and for facilitating cross-border communication.

These demolitions come just a day after similar action was taken against the houses of two other militants—Asif Ahmad Sheikh of Tral and Adil Thoker of Bijbhera—whose involvement in the Pahalgam attack was confirmed.

The targeted demolitions mark a shift in counter-terror strategy, aimed at dismantling the support systems that shelter and enable militants in the region(DD)
