Crackdown Launched in Padder to Curb Drug Menace

IMRAN SHAH

KISHTWAR: To curb the growing drug menace in the district, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Padder, Vijay Bhagat, under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Naresh Singh, conducted a series of crackdowns at various locations in the Padder area of Kishtwar district.

The operation was launched following specific inputs regarding the movement and concealment of narcotic substances in remote pockets of the sub-division.

Speaking exclusively to Diplomat Digital, SDPO Padder Vijay Bhagat said that he, along with his police team, immediately rushed to the far-flung areas of Padder after receiving credible information. “We crossed the river Chenab through trolly to reach the targeted location, as the area is difficult to access,” he said.

He further informed that extensive searches were carried out at multiple locations identified through intelligence inputs. “The crackdown was conducted thoroughly in all areas where we had information regarding possible drug-related activities,” Bhagat added.

The search operation was conducted in different areas of Padder, including Kaijai Padder, Dhok besides other adjoining areas.

Police officials stated that such operations will continue in the coming days to deter drug trafficking and ensure strict enforcement of the law. The local population has also been urged to cooperate with the police and share information related to drug abuse or illegal trafficking.

SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh reiterated that the district police remains committed to eliminating the drug menace and maintaining peace and security in the region.DD
