Srinagar, TDD,In a significant breakthrough, the Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE) of Crime Branch J&K, has successfully investigated and produced a challan in an impersonation case involving a fake Facebook page created in the name of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court.
The case, registered as FIR No. 43/2021 under various sections of the IPC and IT Act, pertained to a fake Facebook page that had garnered over 10,000 followers and was posting controversial content, including a post about the PDD Employees Strike, giving the impression that it was the official view of the Hon’ble Jammu and Kashmir High Court.
Through meticulous investigation, the CICE J&K team, led by Insp Jagdeep Singh under the supervision of SSP SCW Jammu Sh. Sanjay Parihar (looking after the charge of CICE J&K as well), was able to trace the creator of the fake page to one Sahil Sideeq Bhat, a resident of Khrew, Pampore, who was currently staying in Bengaluru.
