Crisil Foundation Completed Far-Reaching Community Engagement across Leh

Leh:DD, Crisil Foundation successfully completed a wide-ranging community engagement initiative across all blocks of Leh district as part of the District Administration’s “Mimang-Si-sJabstogs – Administration at Your Doorstep” public outreach campaign.

Crisil Foundation empanelled by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) funded under DEA Fund & FIF NABARD supported by State Bank of India (SBI) to implement Moneywise Centre for Financial Literacy CFL Project under supervision of Lead District Manager participated in public outreach programs scheduled across all blocks of Leh.

During the public outreach camps, CFL staff collaborated with officials from participating banks and various line departments. They informed community members about services offered by government departments and financial institutions.

The primary focus remained on the saturation of social security schemes, encouraging residents to enroll for insurance plans (PMSBY, PMJJBY) and pensions (APY, PM-SYM).

Attendees received updates on various credit schemes and self-employment generation programs, including detailed sessions on PMEGP, MUDRA, and KCC loans.

Furthermore, the sessions covered essential financial literacy topics such as KYC documentation, banking ombudsman grievance redressal mechanism, and prevention of cyber frauds.

CFL Staff and Area Manager Bilal Bhat, present at the programs emphasized the growing importance of financial literacy, particularly in the context of rising cyber threats, underscoring the need for individuals to protect themselves in today’s complex financial landscape.

Special awareness sessions were conducted as part of the RBI’s “Apki Punji-Apka Adhikar – Your Money-Your Right” campaign regarding unclaimed deposits under the Depositary Education Awareness-DEA Fund. This initiative encourages banks to actively pursue customers to reactivate inoperative accounts and efficiently return unclaimed deposits to their rightful claimants.

The awareness programs were conducted under the supervision of LDM Leh, Stanzin Dolkar and coordinated by Kifayat Hussain, Manager CFL Project Crisil Foundation.

The Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh is one among the regions where the Moneywise CFL project is implemented by Crisil Foundation supported by State Bank of India.

In Leh, Crisil Foundation has seven Moneywise Centre For Financial Literacy- CFLs in block Nyoma, Durbuk, Kharu, Leh, khalsti and Singay lalok and Diskit covering all 16 blocks of Leh district.

Crisil Foundation has been working in all blocks of the UT Ladakh since June 2022 to impart financial literacy and drive financial inclusion as mandated by the RBI and NABARD.

Crisil Foundation has established 13 Moneywise Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL) offices in both Leh and Kargil district of UT Ladakh, which collectively cover all 31 blocks.
These offices are supervised by the Lead District Manager, who serves as the nodal officer representing the RBI and SBI.DD
