Cyber Police Jammu Facilitated Recovery of ₹19.18 Lakh in Cyber Fraud Case

Jammu:DD, In a significant achievement against cybercrime, Cyber Police Station Jammu has successfully facilitated the recovery and refund of ₹19,18,697 (Rupees Nineteen Lakh Eighteen Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-Seven only) to a cyber fraud victim, in compliance with the directions of the Court.

The complainant had registered two separate complaints on the NCRP Portal, alleging cyber fraud totaling ₹25, 82, 810. Both complaints were entrusted to Cyber Police Station Jammu for investigation.

The case was enquired by PSI Mohd Shabir, with active support from DYSP Rohit Chadgal, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, Kameshwar Puri, and overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh, JKPS.

Through diligent follow-ups, coordinated communication with financial institutions, and methodical verification, the investigating team ensured successful restitution to the victim.

The Cyber Police Jammu plays a pivotal role in preventing, investigating, and resolving cybercrime cases.

Month of October is celebrated as Cyber Jagrookta Month in order to promote awareness about cyber threats, online frauds, and safe digital practices. During this month, Cyber Police Jammu conducts awareness programs in schools and colleges and shares educational content through its official social media pages.

These initiatives aim to inform citizens, especially students, about safe online habits, vigilance against cyber threats, and responsible digital behavior, creating a safer online environment for the community.

Cyber Safety: Do’s

Do’s: Always verify the sender or caller before sharing personal information.

Use strong, unique passwords, enable two-factor authentication, keep software and antivirus updated, and report suspicious activity immediately. Monitor bank accounts regularly, educate family members about online safety.

Cyber Safety Don’ts

: Do not share OTPs or passwords with anyone, avoid clicking on suspicious links or attachments, do not respond to unknown calls demanding money, and refrain from posting sensitive personal information online.
Avoid public Wi-Fi for banking, do not download pirated apps or software, and never share Aadhaar, PAN, or banking details unnecessarily.
