Udhampur :TDD, The Cyber Police Station Jammu has concluded the third quarter of 2024 with significant achievements in combating cybercrime. The dedicated team has successfully recovered a substantial amount of funds for victims, while also prioritizing public awareness and training initiatives.
In terms of financial recovery, the Cyber Police Station has marked a remarkable Rs. 50,85,352/- for lien and has refunded a total of Rs. 58, 71,910/- to individuals affected by cyber fraud. This demonstrates the team’s effectiveness in tracing and recovering funds lost to online scams.
Beyond financial gains, the Cyber Police Station has been actively engaged in educating the public about the evolving landscape of cybercrime. Through comprehensive awareness programs, they have reached out to educational institutions, healthcare facilities, retired personnel organizations, armed forces, old age homes, and NGOs. These initiatives have equipped individuals with essential knowledge to protect themselves from online threats.
To bolster the capabilities of law enforcement agencies across the district, the Cyber Police Station has conducted regular training sessions for personnel of district Cyber Cells. This ensures that these units are well-equipped to handle cybercrime cases at the local level and provide timely assistance to victims.
The Cyber Police Station has also emphasized the importance of reporting cybercrimes through the designated cybercrime portal. By encouraging individuals to come forward, they can assist in identifying and apprehending cybercriminals. Additionally, the team has been leveraging social media platforms to disseminate vital information, including DOs and DON’Ts related to online safety.
In their ongoing efforts to combat cyber fraud, the Cyber Police Station has been actively working to block phone numbers and devices used by scammers. Recognizing the interstate nature of many cybercrimes, the team has been diligently pursuing investigations across different states to apprehend the perpetrators.
