Kishtwar, (TDD) The Cyber Wing of Kishtwar district has made significant strides in 2024, achieving notable success in addressing cybercrimes and safeguarding the community from digital threats.
The team recovered over Rs 60 lakh defrauded in online financial scams, seized 47 stolen mobile phones worth Rs 20 lakh, and recovered several other gadgets throughout the year.
The Cyber Wing handled numerous complaints related to online fraud, particularly financial scams where victims were deceived into sharing their banking and personal information. Thanks to the diligent efforts of the team, over Rs 60 lakh was successfully recovered and returned to the victims, preventing further losses in multiple cases.
In addition to tackling financial fraud, the Cyber Wing successfully seized 47 stolen mobile phones, with a combined value of Rs 20 lakh. These phones, which were being sold through illegal channels, were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
The team also made significant progress in resolving cases related to cyberbullying, online harassment, and misuse of social media platforms, ensuring that perpetrators faced legal action.
To raise awareness about online safety, the Cyber Wing conducted several public outreach programs, educating residents on identifying fraudulent schemes, protecting personal data, and ensuring safe digital practices. These initiatives have played a key role in increasing awareness of online risks in Kishtwar.
Looking ahead, the Cyber Wing plans to enhance its operations and resources to tackle emerging cyber threats more effectively, with a continued focus on safeguarding citizens and recovering stolen and defrauded assets. Their commitment to maintaining a secure digital environment is expected to further strengthen Kishtwar’s resilience against cybercrimes in the future.(TDD)
