DC Kargil Reviews Moharram Arrangements and Procession Routes, Emphasises Smooth Conduct

Kargil, DD, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar (IAS) conducted a detailed inspection of Moharram procession routes across Kargil town on Wednesday to ensure seamless arrangements ahead of the upcoming religious observances. He conducted on-spot inspection in terms of arrangements by various departments/agencies.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner,Imteeaz Kacho; Additional Superintendent of Police,Nitin Yadav;Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer, PHE; Executive Engineer, Power Development Department; Headquarter Assistant to Deputy Commissioner; Assistant Director, Tourism; Executive Officer, Municipal Committee; Assistant Director, Food & Civil Supplies, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic and other district officers.

DC Rakesh Kumar personally walked the stretch from Fatima Chowk to Inqilab Manzil, passing through key locations such as Islamia School Chowk, Khomeini Chowk and Lal Chowk. He reviewed site-specific arrangements to facilitate the smooth passage of Moharram processions.

Key aspects discussed included traffic regulation, deployment of medical camps, provision of drinking water, public conveniences, security arrangements and installation of Sabeer stalls. Officials were directed to maintain cleanliness and remove all obstacles along the designated routes.

Addressing safety concerns, DC Kumar also reviewed mitigation measures for landslide-prone areas at Kabbadi Nala. Officials informed him of a plan to construct a one-way lane adjacent to the Omni Van stand to ease congestion by linking the main market road with the riverside stretch.

The Deputy Commissioner urged all departments to work in close coordination and deliver their best in facilitating a peaceful and respectful observance of Moharram for the community. He passed instructions for hassle-free movement and for effective coordination between departments/agencies as well as the Police.DD
