DC Kishtwar Holds Public Darbar at Warwan to Address Local Grievances

Kishtwar,DD, In a significant public outreach initiative, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan held a Public Darbar in the remote Warwan area of Sub-Division Marwah to directly engage with residents and assess their developmental needs.

A large number of locals, including prominent citizens, attended the event and voiced concerns related to infrastructure, healthcare, education, road connectivity, and communication facilities. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Marwah, briefed the DC on ongoing development projects and the overall administrative landscape of the subdivision.

During the interaction, key issues raised included a shortage of staff at GHSS Afti Warwan, inadequate healthcare services, poor internet connectivity, and the urgent requirement of a school bus for girl students traveling from Mulwarwan to Sukhnai. Locals also demanded the establishment of an IGNOU Sub-Centre, a public library, and the widening of the Margan Top road.

Responding promptly, DC Kishtwar directed the concerned authorities to accelerate the construction of ongoing road and bridge projects. He instructed that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for new road projects should only be submitted after consultation with the Hon’ble MLA. He further directed the R&B Department to initiate the tendering process for the KGBV building and the Girls’ Hostel after finalizing the technical sections.

In a major relief to commuters, the DC also announced the resumption of two-way traffic on the National Highway from Kishtwar to Srinagar via Sinthan Top, following the winter season closure.

Recognizing the importance of digital connectivity, the DC instructed telecom operators, including Jio and BSNL, to establish 5G Fiber Internet connectivity in both Warwan and Marwah within a month. He emphasized achieving 100% saturation of all centrally sponsored government schemes across the subdivision.

A group of girl students personally met the DC to request a school bus. In response, he assured them of support and directed the provision of a bus under the District Capex Plan.

The DC gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured residents that the District Administration is committed to addressing their genuine demands. On-the-spot directions were issued for the immediate redressal of several issues, while others were taken up for further necessary action.

Senior officials, including SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh, SDM Marwah ,SDPO Warwan Vijay Bhagat, BDO Warwan, and other senior officers, accompanied the DC during the visit.DD
