Kishtwar, DD: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan chaired a high-level meeting today to review preparations for the upcoming festivals of Mahashivratri and Ramzan. The meeting focused on ensuring essential services, security, and public convenience during the festive period.
Key Directives Issued:
Essential Commodities & Price Regulation: Concerned officers were instructed to monitor the prices of essential items like milk, cheese, and vegetables, ensuring their availability.
Sanitation & Cleanliness: The Executive Officer, Municipal Council was directed to maintain cleanliness, especially around religious sites, and repair all non-functional streetlights in crowded areas.
Medical Facilities: The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kishtwar was asked to deploy medical teams at religious sites during the festivals.
Waste Management: The DC emphasized zero-waste celebrations, directing the municipality to install dustbins at all religious sites and discourage polythene usage.
Power & Water Supply:
The Executive Engineer, PDD was tasked with ensuring an uninterrupted power supply.
The Executive Engineer, PHE was directed to maintain adequate water supply, chlorinate water tanks near religious places, and repair any pipeline issues.
Ration & LPG Supply: The Assistant Director, FCS&CA was instructed to ensure timely distribution of rations and adequate LPG stock.
Fire Safety & Security:
The Fire & Emergency Department was directed to station fire tenders at key locations and install fire extinguishers at religious sites.
The SSP Kishtwar was asked to enhance security, with CCTV cameras to be installed near temples, mosques, and shrines.
A joint committee was also formed to conduct daily inspections of food quality and pricing, with strict penalties for violations.
Community Engagement & Coordination:
Religious leaders raised concerns, and the DC assured full administrative support. Stressing smooth celebrations, he urged officials to work collectively for public safety, convenience, and civic responsibility.

The meeting was attended by SSP Kishtwar Javed Iqbal ADC Kishtwar Pawan Kotwal ACR Kishtwar Idrees Lone, AD FCS&CA Shafqat Ali Keen, EO Municipality/Dy. Registrar Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, Tehsildar Nirbhay Sharma, ARTO Tasleem Wani, CMO, DSHO, along with traffic department officials, religious leaders, and community representatives.
