Leh,DD, The Deputy Commissioner Leh Santosh Sukhadeve convened a meeting regarding Protected Area Permit Online Registration in the VC room of DC office Leh today on April 3. The meeting attended by officers and stakeholders from the tourism sector, focused on streamlining the permit system and addressing key concerns related to restricted areas.
One of the primary issues discussed was the implementation of eFRRO which is online registration of foreigners regulated by Foreigner’s Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Amritsar. The portal will enable the government to update travel information sources of foreign visitors and track and manage tourist entries more efficiently, enhancing security and tourism management in the region.
During the meeting, stakeholders of travel sector expressed their concern for the duration of approval/ timeline for the online permit. They also expressed their concern on Environmental fees and Travel fees which was earlier taken during the issuance of permit. ALTOA and ALTTA also requested to have access to the portal so that the Travel Agencies can fill the tourist information through their agencies which will make the process easier for many tourists.
During the meeting, other issues such as permission for night stay at Hundar, Skuru, Hanle and regulation of tourist visit to non-permitted areas were also raised before the Deputy Commissioner. The DC Leh assured the stakeholders that their concerns would be looked upon and directed them to write a letter for same.
The meeting was attended by ADDC leh Sonam Nurboo, ADC Leh Ghulam Mohd, Additional SSP Rigzin Samdup, District Informatics Officer NIC Leh, President ALTTA, President ALTOA, General Secretary ALTOA, representatives from ALHGHA and ALBA.DD
