Leh, TDD, The Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve chaired a meeting with District Level Advisory Committee to review Safe Food and Healthy Diets at District Level 43 on November 18 at VC Room, DC Office, Leh.
During the meeting, a detailed presentation was made on the effective implementation of food safety and standards Act 2006 and Regulation 2011, effective monitoring and enforcement, monitoring grievances, ensuring citizen’s engagement through various activities and effective implementation of FSSAI initiatives.
It was informed that around 61 Mid day meal schools, 89 PDS Store and 213 ICDS centres were registered under the food safety and standards Act 2006 and Regulation 2011. Similarly, data were shared on new license, registration and collection of food samples lifted to check the safety measurements. It was also mentioned that food safety measurements are also taken on wheel while also spreading awareness.
The Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve directed to complete the registration at Education, ICDS and PDS and achieve the target 100% by next meeting. He also instructed ICDS department to intimate about training for ASHA workers, where FSSAI officers will also train and aware the ASHAs. Additionally, Chief Education Officer was directed to give a separate report on Mid day Meal hygiene. He also directed Drug and Food Control Department to increase the checks on winter stock specially on frozen food products during the winter period.
The meeting was attended by Head of Departments of various departments along with representatives of Merchant Association.TDD
