Kishtwar:TDD,On the directions of District Child Protection Officer, Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed Lone (JKAS) , the drives against the rescue and rehabilitation of street children were conducted at hotspot areas of the district Kishtwar.

The Child Welfare Committee Kishtwar, District Child Protection Unit Kishtwar along with officials of Child Help Line (1098) took part in the campaign.
During the campaign, several children were found below the age of 18 who were rescued and after proper counselling were handed over to their parents and requested them to enroll their children in government schools.

Its focus remained on children being forced to beg, work as rag pickers, sell articles or engage in labour work at construction sites, official added.
They said that Children are the future of our nation and we have to end this disease to protect their childhood. After rescuing a child, verification is done to know whether he or she is from within or outside Jammu and Kashmir and a rehabilitation plan is chalked out accordingly,” they said.
Since most of the children rescued are from Uttar Pardesh and Panipath efforts are underway to establish contact with the authorities concerned to ensure that they are linked to government schemes for their proper rehabilitation in their home districts, they said.
The rescued children after helping them to get Adhaar enrollments and will be enrolled in Anganwadi centres or schools and their information uploaded in the CISS portal so that they are not dragged back into begging or campaign.
During the rescue campaign, people were made aware about various policies of the government for the wellbeing of children and were urged to inform the DCPU, CHL (1098) or Child Welfare Committee in case they found any child of this category.TDD
