DDC Chairperson Reviews Developmental Activities of Rural Development Department in Kishtwar

Kishtwar,DD, District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Kishtwar, Smt. Pooja Thakur, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of developmental activities being undertaken by the Rural Development Department (RDD) across the district.

The meeting was attended by DDC Members, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kishtwar Sh. Pawan Kotwal (JKAS), Chief Executive Officer KDA/Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kishtwar Sh. Kaiser Bhawani, all Block Development Officers (BDOs), and other concerned officials.

The session focused on evaluating the implementation status of ongoing works and flagship schemes, while also devising strategies to ensure their timely and effective execution.

During the meeting, the Chairperson expressed concern over the non-disbursement of funds under the SOS Plan of the District Development Council in March, citing insufficient allocations. She called for urgent measures to address the issue.

DDC Councillors from Marwah and Warwan provided feedback on the implementation of works under MGNREGA and other schemes during the financial years 2023–24 and 2024–25. They also suggested improvements to enhance the effectiveness of service delivery.

The Chairperson directed the concerned officials to carry out immediate verification of ongoing projects and take corrective measures where necessary.

Regarding the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the Chairperson emphasized that only eligible and deserving beneficiaries must be selected, with the process remaining free from favoritism.

Smt. Thakur stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, and active community participation in the execution of rural development programs. She urged officials to prioritize people-centric projects, promptly resolve grassroots-level issues, and ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach every deserving citizen.DD
