Udhampur:TDD, A tense situation was averted in Samba district as security forces successfully defused a rusted anti-tank mine and an old mortar shell, both of which were discovered in separate locations.
The first incident occurred near the Regal border outpost, where a vigilant farmer working in his fields stumbled upon the anti-tank mine. Recognising the grave threat posed by the explosive device, the farmer promptly alerted the local Border Security Force (BSF) unit. BSF experts were swiftly dispatched to the scene and, with meticulous care, neutralized the mine, preventing a potential disaster.
In a separate incident, a mortar shell was unearthed in the Bari Brahmana area, specifically in Balole Khad. The discovery was made on Sunday evening by individuals sifting through the garbage. Recognizing the immediate danger, the authorities were alerted, and the bomb disposal squad of Jammu and Kashmir police was called in. The experts, equipped with specialized tools and expertise, safely defused the mortar shell, ensuring the public’s safety.
The timely discovery and defusal of these explosive remnants of war underscore the ongoing vigilance and preparedness of the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.TDD
