Leh: DD, In a significant step towards preserving and promoting Ladakh’s traditional medical heritage, Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director, National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR), Leh, along with Dr. Ashok Kumar, National Organizing Secretary of Arogya Bharti, and Sanjeevan Kumar, Northern Zone Coordinator, Arogya Bharti called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta.
During the meeting, the delegation engaged in an in-depth discussion on the preservation, promotion, and integration of Sowa Rigpa – the traditional system of medicine of the Himalayan region – and explored how the AYUSH system can further contribute to the wellness of the public.
Dr. Padma Gurmet highlighted the importance of safeguarding ancient knowledge and practices while simultaneously adapting them to meet the needs of modern healthcare.
Dr. Gurmet further informed about the current status and activities going on in National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, Leh.
The LG expressed his keen interest in the preservation of Sowa Rigpa and assured full support from the UT Administration for initiatives aimed at promoting Sowa-Rigpa traditional knowledge system.
He also emphasized the government’s commitment to the development of medicinal plant resources.
This meeting marks a collaborative step forward in integrating traditional wisdom with modern health systems for the holistic well-being of the people of Ladakh and beyond.DD
