Srinagar, (DD): The Delhi High Court has allowed Member of Parliament (MP) Er Rashid to attend the second part of the 4th session of the 18th Lok Sabha (26 March – 4 April 2025) while remaining in judicial custody. This ensures that the people of North Kashmir are not left without representation in Parliament.
Welcoming the decision, Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said: “We thank the Honourable judiciary for upholding democracy and allowing Er Rashid to represent his people. This is an important step for justice. We also appreciate our legal team, led by Advocate N. Hariharan and Advocate Vikhyat Oberoi, for their hard work in securing this order.”
As per the court’s order, Er Rashid will be escorted to Parliament by the police and handed over to Parliament security for the session. He will be able to take part in proceedings but will have restrictions on media access and communication.
Ensuring Representation for North Kashmir
The decision is seen as a big win for democracy, ensuring that North Kashmir’s elected MP can take part in key discussions and voice his people’s concerns in Parliament.(DD)
