Nyoma, DD: As part of celebration of ‘International year of Cooperatives, 2025’, the Department of Cooperative, LAHDC- Leh, organized an awareness camp cum workshop at Hanley wherein Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Nyoma, Tushar Anand, IAS was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
Dr Mohd Abass, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Department Leh briefed the farmers and the general public about the importance of Celebration of ‘International Year of Cooperatives, 2025’ declared by United Nations and said that a calendar covering various activities planned for celebration of IYC ,2025 has been prepared and launched by the Chief Secretary UT-Ladakh recently.
He further highlighted the role of cooperatives in economic development of the nation and pointed out various services provided to general public, be it providing essential commodities on fair price round the year, bulk procurement, processing and marketing of pashmina , milk , sea buckthorn , apricot respectively through Cooperative Societies thereby boosting the livelihood generation for the farmers, marketing of local vegetable/fruits through negotiated contract of Cooperative Societies with Indian Army.
He further stressed upon strengthening of existing Cooperative societies for betterment of the farmers and general public. Regarding the infrastructure development in Hanle, he informed that construction works of 2 Cooperative retail outlets at Khaldo and Punguk respectively stands completed and functioning smoothly.
SDM Tushar Anand while speaking on the occasion advised the general public to take benefit of the various activities and schemes of Cooperative Department and other Departments.
