Srinagar, (DD)In view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations and other major events in the Union Territory, the Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Nalin Prabhat (IPS), chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir on Monday.

The meeting was convened to assess the prevailing security situation and to chalk out a comprehensive strategy for ensuring peace and public safety across the region.

Senior officers from various security and intelligence agencies attended the session, including Spl. DG Coordination J&K S.J.M. Gillani, ADG CRPF Rajesh Kumar, ADGP Armed J&K Anand Jain, ADGP CID J&K Nitish Kumar, Joint Director SIB J&K/L, and IGsP of Kashmir Zone, Jammu Zone, CRPF, BSF, and other central paramilitary forces.

At the outset, the DGP was briefed on the ground situation by Zonal IGs and intelligence officials, who presented threat assessments and highlighted key security concerns. The officers discussed the recent developments on the security front and evaluated ongoing challenges, including infiltration threats, local disturbances, and attempts to disrupt public order.

DGP Nalin Prabhat stressed the need for robust coordination between agencies and urged officers to intensify area domination, intelligence gathering, and surveillance, especially in sensitive zones. He directed that anti-national elements be kept under close watch and that activities on social media platforms be monitored to prevent the spread of false narratives or incitement.

“Security of vulnerable spots must be enhanced, and foolproof arrangements should be put in place to ensure that all Independence Day events and related functions are held in a peaceful environment,” the DGP emphasized.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolve to maintain heightened vigilance, strengthen operational readiness, and ensure seamless coordination between security and civil administration.

With a clear message of zero tolerance for any disruptive elements, the police leadership reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding peace and stability across Jammu and Kashmir(DD)
