Drass, DD, A Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA) awareness and benefit saturation camp was held today at Bhimbet block of Drass sub-division. The camp was inaugurated by Bhimbet Councillor Abdul Wahid and saw active participation from multiple government departments.

The event was supported by all line departments, with key dignitaries present including Councillor Abdul Wahid, Naib Tehsildar Drass Ghulam Rasool, Block Veterinary Officer (BVO), and representatives from the Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA), Power Development Corporation (PDC), and other line departments.

In his address, Councillor Wahid urged residents to actively participate in such camps to avail themselves of government services at their doorstep and resolve any pending grievances.

The Block Veterinary Officer informed attendees about the operational mobile veterinary clinic in the sub-division. Farmers can access its services by dialling the toll-free number 1962.

A KREDA official highlighted the launch of the PM-KUSUM scheme, under which solar submersible pumps are being provided. The cost-sharing model includes 50% central government subsidy, 30% by the UT Ladakh Administration, and 20% contribution by the beneficiary. The official also introduced related green energy schemes, including solar water heaters, solar home lighting systems, and solar flour mills — all geared towards making Ladakh carbon neutral.

A representative from the PDC spoke about PM Surya Ghar, a scheme promoting solar power-based electricity generation in homes.

During the event, a local woman shared her success story on cultivating black cumin in the Bhimbet block. She noted that while the crop is already present in the area, it holds potential for expansion at a larger scale.

The event concluded with Councillor Abdul Wahid patiently listening to public grievances and assuring attendees that issues would be resolved on a priority basis.DD
