Ramban: DD, In response to the severe flooding that affected areas of Ramban due to inclement weather from August 24 to August 27, Shridhar Patil, IPS, DIG DKR Range visited the impacted areas today to assess the situation and coordinate, review,rescue and relief efforts.
The visit commenced in Chanderkote where DIG DKR was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Gupta, District Commissioner (DC), Mohammad Alyas Khan, ADC Ramban and CRPF senior officials, and other government representatives.
The team inspected the headquarters of the 84th Battalion (BN) at Chanderkot, where a thorough evaluation of the flood’s damage was conducted.
Following this assessment, DIG provided critical directives to ensure an effective response to the ongoing situation.
Thereafter, DIG visited Maitra-Kowbag area, which experienced significant damage to local homes due to the flooding.
During this visit, he engaged directly with residents, listening to their concerns and complaints. In response, he issued necessary directives to local officials to address the needs of the affected communities.
The final segment of the visit included an inspection of the Marog area along the National Highway, where the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) traffic joined the team. Here, DIG DKR assessed the damage to the national highway and emphasized the importance of swift restoration efforts to ensure the safe passage of traffic.
The residents of Ramban appreciated efforts of J&K police in timely evacuation and ensuring safety of life and property by way of continuous deployment in the affected areas as first responders.DD
