Directorate of Sheep Husbandry, Ladakh Reviews Annual Progress in Brainstorming Session at CBF Stakna

Leh, DD, The Directorate of Sheep Husbandry, Ladakh, conducted a half-day meeting and brainstorming session at the Changthang Breeding Farm (CBF), Stakna to review its annual progress following the formation of the separate directorate.
The session was chaired by Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Director, Sheep Husbandry Ladakh, and attended by sectoral officers and farm in-charges, headed by Dr. T. Morup, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Leh.

The meeting highlighted major achievements of the newly formed directorate, including: Installation of a modern pashmina dehairing plant to strengthen Ladakh’s pashmina value chain, Reassessment of the livestock breeding policy in the sheep and goat sector for improved productivity, Infrastructure development at block and village levels to enhance field-level service delivery, On the Human Resource Development front, the clearance of backlog and timely functional promotions of staff was recognized as a critical administrative milestone.

The meeting further deliberated on stabilising key farm livestock parameters and the need to collect reliable and actionable productivity data from field centres in a time-bound manner.
It was decided that training and orientation of in-service veterinarians will be a key focus area in the near future.
The session served as a platform for constructive dialogue and planning, reaffirming the Directorate’s commitment to improving livestock productivity and service delivery across Ladakh.DD
