Kishtwar, TDD,District Magistrate Kishtwar, Sh. Rajesh Kumar Shavan (JKAS), today conducted a comprehensive inspection of the District Jail to oversee logistics and security provisions.
During his visit, the District Magistrate interacted with the inmates to hear their grievances and assess their living conditions. The key demands raised by the inmates included Provision of newspapers to stay updated on current events, Access to library books for educational and recreational purposes, TV recharge facilities for entertainment, Resolution of high-frequency signal jammer issues to enable phone calls, Installation of a heating system for comfort during winter, Availability of a vehicle for transporting patients to medical facilities, Regular visits from a doctor and improved access to medical facilities, Provision of floor matting for better living conditions
The District Magistrate assured the inmates that their concerns would be addressed promptly and emphasized the implementation of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as per the jail manual.
The District Magistrate stated that inmates have the right to communicate their grievances to the jail authorities, which will be addressed in accordance with established SOPs.
Furthermore, the DM issued necessary instructions to the Jail Superintendent, directing him to ensure that meals provided to inmates are prepared with care. He also stressed the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and sanitation in the jail kitchen. Additionally, the DM emphasized the need for the regular availability of daily newspapers and library books in the jail to support the inmates’ access to information and educational resources.TDD
